Is the Macbook Air the Ultra-Light Laptop You Want in School/College?
The biggest news to come out of this year's Macworld Conference and Expo was the introduction of the MacBook Air, dubbed by Apple as the "World's Thinnest Notebook." The Air, which weighs in at less than three pounds while featuring a full keyboard and 13" display, seems to be targeted at business travelers who need a light laptop on the road, but also at students who want a powerful machine that's still easy to slip into a backpack: in other words, you. So for those of you who are thinking about buying a new laptop for work at SPF or beyond in college, is the MacBook Air on your radar?

Blackwater in the news again
In October, I wrote my column about the role of private security contractors in Iraq (you can find that story here). But the story is far from over - check out yesterday's article in the New York Times about yet another questionable move by the security firm Blackwater. Apparently, in 2005, some Blackwater employees used CS gas (a chemical similar to tear gas) to clear traffic. If that doesn't prove my point, no amount of opinion writing will.
